Every drop of Avid Vines’ imported champagne portfolio demonstrates our commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and a better future for all.
In September 2020, the UN adopted a set of 17 ambitious objectives targeted at ending extreme poverty and hunger, fighting inequality and injustice, and tackling climate change by 2030.
Avid Vines is working hard to uphold two specific goals aimed at ensuring the health of ourselves and our planet. We consider it our way of helping to repair the world in a directed, intentional way that others might consider doing as well.
UN Sustainable Development Goal #3: Good Health and Well-Being
We choose the best of organic champagne as both a reward for healthy living and as a strategy to support your routine of self-care. AVID Vines only imports bubbles that deliver maximum flavor and minimal sugar and sulfates so you enjoy each taste twice – once when you sip it and again the next morning when you wake up with #NoRegrets. We define self-care as avoiding the next-day headache which can derail a carefully maintained daily practice of personal welfare such as healthy eating and/or regular exercise.
Avid Vines is also dedicated to funding healthy outcomes for those in need through our partnership with The Giving Kitchen (TGK), an organization which works to defray the medical costs for those in the food service industry. We donate a portion of our profits as well as champagne for auctions and fundraising. Since its inception in 2012, TGK has raised millions of dollars and supported more than 6,000 individuals in crisis.
Healthy living is about more than the body, it’s also about the mind. When the pandemic upended our way of life, mental health needs spiked, and Avid Vines responded. We pivoted from in-person tastings to virtual events to create connections and bring people together despite the physical distance. We deliver the bubbles, a carefully selected food pairing, and a Zoom link for each event in this ongoing series. Then, on a Saturday afternoon, we collectively and virtually enjoy champagne with the company of a sommelier, a chef, and a musician for an hour of relaxation, laughter, and the bond of a shared experience. The silver lining to this new style of tasting champagne is that we connect with friends across the country and even visit with the winemaker from his vineyard in France! Direct feedback from our regular guests tells us these events are a lifeline, especially for people who are isolated and alone.
UN Sustainable Development Goal #12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Avid Vines’ mission is to only import certified, sustainable, organic sparkling wine and champagne. We search for the producers who meet these goals and carry the hard-won certifications on the bottle that indicate their dedication to our planet. André TIXIER & Fils is the rare producer in this unique category. His vineyard carries the two critical certifications that indicate a commitment to our planet through responsible consumption and production:

Certification from France

Certification from Champagne
Viticulture Durable En Champagne: This certification is presented to artisans in the Champagne region who successfully endure an exhaustive audit that reviews exactly how their champagne is made, its impact on land, water, and air, and the ultimate sustainability of the environment.
Haute Valeur Environnementale: This French agricultural honor is available to an array of the nation’s delicacies including cheese, bread, chocolate, and, of course, champagne. In the vineyard, a grower earns this certification by promoting biodiversity which requires allowing other plants to grow alongside the grapes. When the vines compete with herbs and different vegetation for water and nutrients, that struggle leads to a better grape and a premier bottle of bubbles.
Together, these efforts are symbols of sustainable farming and a commitment to terroir, the natural environment. André TIXIER & Fils, Avid Vines’ premier producer, is the ultimate representative of terroir. Not only does this winemaker only use the grapes grown and harvested in his vineyard, but once the fruit is transformed into champagne, it rests in barrels made only from trees that grew in the forest surrounding the village. That’s responsible consumption and production in the truest sense.
This dedication to healthy living and responsible consumption is how Avid Vines aligns itself with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. I urge you to take a look at the list of objectives to see how your work supports this initiative, and then share your story. Together, we can ensure a brighter future for our planet.
