In his interview with Your Williamson, David shared how this mission began. He spoke about the creative journey of four generations of Tixiers: André, Robert, Patrice, and now Julien. Their vineyards in the Montagne de Reims region produce exceptional fruit thanks to chalky soils and careful stewardship. Julien and his family run one of the area’s small micro-houses, crafting organically farmed champagnes with remarkable character. Their approach includes natural pest control methods like garlic oil sprays, and they hold the highly regarded Sustainable Viticulture Certification, which only fifteen percent of Champagne producers can claim.
What makes these champagnes unique is the harmony between land and winemaker. Julien blends Pinot Meunier for its berry flavors, Pinot Noir for body and structure, and Chardonnay for lift and clarity. He balances current harvests with aged reserves, some dating back to 2016, to ensure consistency even when conditions are difficult. In 2021, for example, the Champagne region faced such a challenging season that no harvest was considered viable. Thanks to careful planning and stewardship, Julien was able to bridge that gap and continue producing wines of quality and balance.
What stands out most in David’s vision is his respect for both craft and community. He believes that champagne is more than bubbles in a glass. It is a legacy shaped by generations honoring the land. It is authenticity in every sip, where flavor, tradition, and story come together. It is a mindset shift where you are not waiting for a celebration, you become the reason to celebrate. And it is sustainability at its core, supporting growers who safeguard terroir for future generations.
Avid Vines brings these champagnes to the United States in carefully selected batches. Wine lovers can buy individual bottles or join their Wine Club, which offers six curated bottles each quarter. Membership provides more than a refined experience. It connects you with the heritage of families who dedicate their lives to the vineyard and invites you to raise a glass with meaning.
This feature is a reminder that champagne is more than a drink. It is about connection between people, place, and purpose. Through Avid Vines, David Aferiat invites us to celebrate life itself and to embrace the idea that we are the occasion.
